Have you thought about weather-proofing your property?

Many of us don’t consider the extra protection our homes need during the winter, and with the cost of living issues still hanging over our heads, we may put these jobs to the bottom of the pile.

However, this just makes it all the more important to take these extra measures now to save you money in the long run.

Here are our recommendations for keeping your property warm and dry this winter.

  • PROTECT YOUR BOILER – Boilers have a funny knack of breaking down just when you need them the most. Make sure that your boiler is serviced and in full, safe working order.
  • MAINTAIN YOUR PIPES – Frozen water pipes can cause big problems when the temperature dips so it is crucial to make sure all water pipes are suitably lagged and insulated. This prevents them freezing and splitting which is costly to repair.
  • CHECK YOUR GUTTERS – Gutters that become blocked with leaves and debris can both overflow and/or freeze, this subsequently causing cracks and further damage which is another issue that can be expensive to repair. Ensure that your gutters are regularly cleared from debris to avoid the extra expense. Draft excluders can also be used as a short term solution to help tackle drafts.
  • SEAL ANY GAPS – Properties need to be well insulated so now is a great time to check all the seals on your windows and doors to help prevent excess heat loss and protect your properties from the extremities of the nippy weather.

If you’re considering letting your property this winter, we would be delighted to help and are here to offer advice on everything you need to know about how to protect your property, as well as ways to save on expensive heating bills during the colder months.
